According to data provided by the Congressional Research Service, the United States currently spends nearly $3.6 billion a month in Afghanistan.
Often when such data is provided, the left argues something along the lines of, “If we can spend $X billion dollars in Afghanistan, we should be able to spending that much at home too!” This argument is tragically flawed yet widely accepted. On the contrary, because we have spent $X billion dollars in Afghanistan, we have that much less to spend at home. What sense does it make to spend more because are already spending a lot?
